Abstract:
A process for the preparation of garamine and garamine derivatives of the formula (I) (I) wherein the radicals R1 are each H or amino-protecting groups and the radicals R2 are each H or hydroxyl-protecting groups, comprises selectively cleaving in a strong acid a compound of formula (II) or a mixture thereof (II) wherein R3 is acyl, R4 and R5 are each H or CH3 and R1 and R2 are the same as in formula (I).
