To provide a catalytically cracked gasoline base having a reduced sulfur content and a process for producing the catalytically cracked gasoline base, and to provide an unleaded gasoline composition that ensures satisfactory operating characteristics using the catalytically cracked gasoline base.
The process for producing the catalytically cracked gasoline base comprises subjecting a stock oil having a specific sulfur content, a specific nitrogen content and a specific metal content to catalytic cracking and then subjecting the catalytically cracked oil to fractional distillation to produce a catalytically cracked gasoline base comprising a catalytically cracked naphtha having a 5 volume% distillation temperature of 35-55°C, a 95 volume% distillation temperature of 150-210°C, a total sulfur content of 25 mass ppm or less and a proportion of thiophenes as a sulfur compound in the total sulfur content being 20 mass% or more in terms of the sulfur content. The unleaded gasoline composition having an extremely low sulfur content (a sulfur content of 10 mass ppm or less) is produced by compounding 30-90 volume% of the catalytically cracked gasoline base and 70-10 volume% of the other gasoline base.
