To provide a method for producing 2-nitrophenol derivative in which the 4-position is substituted with an alkoxy, aralkyloxy, aryloxy or heterocycloxy group by a simple method in a good yield applicable to mass production.
The method for producing the nitrophenol derivative represented by structural formula (B) (wherein R1 is an alkyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic group; R2 is a substituent; and n is an integer of 0-3, and when n is 2 or 3, a plurality of R2 may be the same or different, and when n is ≥1, R1 and R2 or a plurality of R2s may be linked with each other to form a ring) comprises reacting a phenol derivative represented by structural formula (A) (wherein R1, R2, and n are the same as defined above) with nitric acid in a solvent having a relative dielectric constant of ≤10.
