To convert an olefin into a paraffin substantially completely, when producing a paraffin by reducing a high-concentration olefin with hydrogen.
There is provided a process for producing a paraffin from an olefin in a gaseous state and hydrogen by a reductive reaction which proceeds in a catalyst tank 11 under the presence of a reduction catalyst, wherein the reduction catalyst filled in the catalyst tank is constituted of a plurality of catalytic regions 13C, 13D and 13E containing catalyst particles having catalytic activity which are diluted with a dilution medium without any catalytic activity. The plurality of catalyst regions 13C, 13D and 13E are arranged so that a mixed ratio of the dilution medium decreases gradually from an upstream side to a downstream side.
