To provide a process for producing porous sintered aluminum which can obtain high porosity homogenous foamed aluminum having fine and size-adjusted open holes with a pore size of ≤500 μm.
In the process for producing porous sintered aluminum which comprises a step in which an aluminum powder is mixed with a sintering aid powder containing a sintering aid element to obtain a raw aluminum mixture powder, a step in which the raw aluminum mixture powder is formed into an unsintered formed object having pores, and a step in which the unsintered formed object is heated and burned in a non-oxidizing atmosphere to thereby produce a porous sintered object constituted of aluminum, wherein the sintering aid element is titanium and when the temperature at which the raw material mixture powder starts to melt is expressed by Tm(°C), then the heating/burning temperature, T(°C) satisfies Tm-10(°C)≤T≤685(°C).
