Title:
PROCESS FOR STABILIZING ORGANOPOLYSILOXANE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2716680
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To stabilize organopolysiloxanes by contacting organopolysiloxanes containing a phosphazene catalyst and its reaction products with a non-basic solid adsorbent to remove the phosphorus compounds.
CONSTITUTION: Organopolysiloxanes to be obtained by carrying out condensation and/or equilibration in the presence of a phosphazene catalyst are contacted with a non-basic solid adsorbent (preferably, an active carbon having a particle size of 20 μm-1 mm and a specific surface area by the BET method of not less than 105 m2/kg) to remove unchanged phosphazene and/or reaction products of the phosphazene with siloxane or the like which are present in the organopolysiloxanes by adsorption on the adsorbent. It is suitable to carry out this contact treatment by adding 0.01-2 wt.% adsorbent to the organopolysiloxanes or passing the organopolysiloxanes through a filtration layer having been coated with 0.1-5 g/m2 adsorbent. Further, it is preferred that the treatment temperature is room temperature to 120°C and the treating time is 10 minutes to 3 hours.
