Abstract:

PURPOSE: To effect the thermoplastic processing of a polyurethane substantially consisting of a linear component after subjecting it to a special temperature treatment.

CONSTITUTION: The polyurethane comprises (A) a reaction product of one or more polydiols having an average molecular weight of 550-10,000; (B) one or more chain extenders having a molecular weight of below 500, an average functionally of about 2 and containing as functional groups amino groups and/or hydroxyl groups; and (C) one or more diisocyanates, wherein the above components are present in amounts to give a molar ratio of the isocyanate groups to the Zerewitinoff-active hydrogen groups of at least 1.10 to 1, and the polyurethane is subjected to a temperature treatment prior to the thermoplastic processing.
