Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the shock absorbability and resistance to flatting of artificial turf by a method in which synthetic resin yarns crimped by heating are flocked to the surface of a base cloth, and a given length from the upper end of the yarns is crimped by heating to increase the surface density per length of the yarn compared to that of the lower part.
CONSTITUTION: Synthetic resin yarns 2 crimped by heating are flocked to the surface of a base cloth 1 and crimped by heating to form a crimped portion 7 of a thickness of 6mm or more by leaving the straight yarn portion of 6mm or more intact. In the case of turf with sand, sand is packed into the straight yarns 8 and the surface of the yarns 8 is covered with the crimped yarns 7 in such a way as to eliminate the moving or biasing of sand and also to lessen change with time of rolling of balls. The artifical turf having excellent shock absorbability and excellent resistance to flatting can thus be obtained.
