PURPOSE: To ensure a common use for most of the circuits which are necessary for recording and reproduction, by giving a frequency conversion in a record mode to the oscillation output of a variable frequency oscillator via a frequency converter comprising a multiplier and a low pass filter.
CONSTITUTION: The output signal of a variable frequency oscillator 16 is used directly for the frequency converting signal that is applied to a multipler 6 to give a frequency conversion to a carrier chrominance signal. A frequency conversion is carried out in a record mode by supplying the oscillation output of the oscillator 16 to a frequency converter comprising a multiplier 17 and a low pass filter 19. A phase comparator 14 performs a phase comparison with the chrominance subcarrier frequency both in a record mode and a reproduction mode. Accordingly, if the input amplitude of the signal to receive a phase comparison is made equal between a record mode and a reproduction mode, the loop gain of an APC circuit is always equal to obtain the best response property at all times.
