Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a process for treating a cotton material for underwear and effective for suppressing the yellowing of the cotton caused by the wearing of clothes, especially a white underwear.
CONSTITUTION: This process for the treatment of a cotton material for underwear comprises the graft-polymerization of at least one kind of monomer selected from methacrylamide, hydroxyethyl acrylate, acrylic acid and methacrylic acid to a cotton material in saturated steam atmosphere at a grafting ratio of 1-20% and further graft-polymerization of methacrylamide to the cotton material in saturated steam atmosphere at a grafting ratio of 1-20%.
