Abstract:
To solve the problem that, since a processing part for performing stapling or punching has a structure of advancing to and retreating from a medium conveyance path in many cases, the region where the processing part is disposed in the medium conveyance path has unevenness and a medium tip is caught in the unevenness, which results in jamming of the medium.SOLUTION: A medium processing device comprises: a medium introducing part for introducing a medium after recorded by a recording part for recording on the medium; a medium conveyance path for conveying the medium introduced by the medium introducing part in the conveyance direction; a processing mechanism which has a processing part for performing processing on the medium, and can be moved between a processing position where the processing mechanism projects from a conveyance surface forming the medium conveyance path to perform the processing on the medium and a retreat position where the processing mechanism does not project from the conveying surface; and a cover member which covers at least a portion of the processing mechanism excluding the region of the processing part and advances to and retreats from the medium conveyance path along with the processing mechanism accompanying the movement of the processing mechanism.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5
