Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for enhancing oxidative molecular weight reduction in a hydrocarbon-containing material.SOLUTION: A processing method of a biomass of this invention comprises: a step of preparing the hydrocarbon-containing material which includes a first hydrocarbon, where the hydrocarbon-containing material is selected from the group consisting of tar or oil sand, oil shale, crude oil, bitumen, coal, petroleum gas, liquefied natural gas, synthesis gas, and asphalt; a step of forming a pretreated material, where the hydrocarbon-containing material is exposed to the ionization radiation effective for imparting one or more kinds of functional groups to the first hydrocarbon; a step of forming a second hydrocarbon by oxidizing the pretreated material together with one or more compounds containing one or more kinds of elements present in nature which is involved in a fenton type reaction during oxidation, where the second hydrocarbon has a molecular weight smaller than a molecular weight of the first hydrocarbon and the one or more kinds of functional groups enhances effectiveness of the oxidation reaction; and a step of extracting the second hydrocarbon from the hydrocarbon-containing material.SELECTED DRAWING: None
