To provide a processing method for a photographic sensitive material in which rapid processing of films is enabled while the replenishment rate of a fixing solution and the temperature of the fixing solution are kept low so as that an insufficiently fixed film is eliminated.

The processing method for a photographic sensitive material includes a step for processing the photographic sensitive material in a processing solution, a step for monitoring the concentration of a processing inhibiting by-product of processing in the processing solution, a step for executing a first method for lowering the concentration of the processing inhibiting by-product in the processing solution and a step for executing a second method for lowering the concentration of the processing inhibiting by-product as well as the first method only for some time when the concentration of the processing inhibiting by-product in the processing solution exceeds a previously set level.
