To provide an apparatus for treating aluminum chips, which inhibits the danger of inflammation by adopting a process of collecting an oil content in a liquid state so as not to decompose it into a combustible gas as much as possible, further introducing an inert gas into a pyrolysis furnace, and then heat-treating the chips.
The apparatus for treating the aluminum chips comprises: a kiln 33 which transports a raw material of the aluminum chips or the like while heating the material to a predetermined temperature, and discharges pyrolysis gases including water vapor, oil vapor and hydrocarbon gases produced by thermal decomposition and the heat-treated aluminum chips; a means for transporting and charging the raw material; a treated-substance-discharging means for discharging the pyrolysis gases (B) and the heat-treated aluminum chips (A); and a means for introducing the inert gas to the kiln. The treated-substance-discharging means comprises: a cooling means (41a) for forcibly cooling the aluminum chips, which is arranged along a path for discharging the aluminum chips; and an inert gas introduction means (64) for introducing the inert gas into at least one part of the discharging path.
