PURPOSE: To enable square can barrel members to be produced continuously, efficiently and economically by dividing one stroke to two steps by making use of a cam, driving forming dies and an elevating table and performing required forming.
CONSTITUTION: When a material (a) of a square barrel shape is placed and fed onto an elevating table 12 which is in a down position, by fitting the bottom edge of the material into grooves 25, the material (a) is pushed into the forming dies 7 provided right above the table by the 1st-step ascending of the table 12; at the same time, the outer die 17 is moved inward by the cam of a gear 9 so that the peripheral surface of the material (a) is grasped and fixed between the outer die 17 and a center die 16. The flanging to bend the top edge of the material outward and the beading to a peripheral surface close to the lower edge are accomplished by the erecting rod 19 which is moved upward by the cam 18. Further, a curled part is press-formed at the lower edge by the 2nd stage ascending of the table 12, thence the material descends together with the table 12 and is forcibly drawn out from the forming dies 7.
