In this product management system for making an access, by radio, to a storage area in the tag fitted to a product 2, a plurality of data areas 24 for storing various types of information and a format area 23 storing a format specifying information for specifying the formats of the plurality of data areas in the storage area are formed in the storage areas in the tag. Also, a management processing part 10 comprises a format table 11 for storing the format of the data areas for each format specifying information, and reads the format specifying information on the format areas in the storage area according to an request for access to the various information on each product, retrieves the format corresponding to the format specifying information read from the format table, and makes an access to the information on the data areas in the storage area specified by the retrieved format.
