Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce 1,3-cyclohexadiene through a gas phase dehydration reaction of a mixture containing 2-cyclohexen-1-ol and 2-cyclohexen-1-one while controlling the concentrations of cyclohexene oxide and cyclohexenyl hydroperoxide in the raw material mixture to a specified range.
CONSTITUTION: 1,3-Cyclohexadiene is produced by conducting a gas phase dehydration reaction of a mixture containing 2-cyclohexen-1-ol and 2-cyclohexen-1- one. In the raw material mixture used in this reaction, the concentration of cyclohexene oxide is reduced to ≤5wt.%, especially ≤1wt.% and that of cyclohexenyl hydroperoxide is reduced to ≤4wt.%, especially ≤0.5wt.%. As the catalyst in the gas phase dehydration reaction, a phosphate is preferably used. Further, the reaction temperature in the gas phase dehydration is preferably 200 to 400°C. 1,3-Cyclohexadiene is useful as a raw material of a high heat-resistant and high-rigid polymer and as an intermediate for various kinds of organic substances.
