Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain 2-keto-D-glucaric acid in good yield, by bringing a bacterium belonging to the genus Pseudomonas or treated product thereof into contact with specific saccharides.

CONSTITUTION: A bacterium having the ability to oxidize D-glucose, D-fructose, D-mannose, D-sorbitol or D-mannitol to 2-keto-D-glucaric acid and belonging to the Genus Pseudomonas, or treated product thereof is brought into contact with D-glucose, D-fructose, D-mannose, D-sorbitol or D-mannitol to produce and accumulate 2-keto-D-glucaric acid, which is then collected. Above-mentioned and treated product of bacterium cell is washed bacterium cell of cultivated product obtained by cultivation of above-mentioned bacterium, acetone powder, polyacrylamide gel or K-carrageenam-entrapped bacterium cell, etc. The concentration of raw material saccharides in the reaction liquid in the contact reaction of the raw material saccharides with above-mentioned bacterium is 1W30% (W/V) based on the medium.
