Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enable high-selectivity production of 2-methyl-1,4-naphthoquinone by gas-phase oxidation of 2-methylnaphthalene.
CONSTITUTION: 2-Methylnaphthalene in the gas phase together with an oxygen- containing gas is brought into contact with a catalyst which is prepared by allowing magnesium oxide to carry vanadium oxide and adding a potassium compound thereto at 300 to 480°C.
