Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the above compound useful as a synthetic intermediate for 2,6-dihaloaniline derivative known as pharmaceuticals and agricultural chemicals, in high yield, by reacting 2,2,6,6-tetrahalocyclohexanone with a primary amine or ammonia in the presence of a Lewis acid. CONSTITUTION:The objective compound of formula (R is H, alkyl or aromatic group; X is halogen) can be produced by the dehydrative condensation reaction of 2,2,6,6-tetrahalocyclohexanone with a primary amine (e.g., methylamine) or ammonia in the presence of a Lewis acid (e.g., titanium tetrachloride) as a catalyst at -10-+50 deg.C. The amount of the Lewis acid is 0.25-2.0mol. per 1mol. of tetrahalocyclohexanone. The objective compound is produced from an inexpensive raw material in short steps. The tetrahalocyclohexanone used as a starting raw material can be produced by the halogenation of cyclohexanone which is easily available at a low cost.
