Abstract:

To obtain the subject compound as a medicine raw material, etc., in good yield by reacting a specific racemic type trans-3-(substituted) phenylglycidic acid ester with an amine, etc., in the presence of an asymmetric amidated enzyme and then separating the reaction product.

A racemic type trans-3-(unsaturated phenyl or lower alkyl- phenyl)glycidic ester compound represented by formula I (ring A is a benzene ring which may be substituted with a lower alkyl group; R is an ester residue) is reacted with a compound represented by the formula R1NH2 (R1 is H or a lower alkyl) in the presence of an enzyme having ability capable of subjecting (2S, 3R) type 3-(unsaturated phenyl or lower alkyl-phenyl)glycidic ester compound to asymmetric amidation to amidate (2S, 3R) type isomer and the produced amide compound is separated and collected to provide the objective compound represented by formula II as a raw material for producing (2R, 3R) type 1,5- benzothiazepin derivative useful as a medicine in good yield.
