PURPOSE: To easily produce 3,3-diaryl acrylic acid amides useful for control of plant pathogenic fungi by bringing a benzophenone into reaction with a suitable actoamide and further, dehydrating the reaction product at need.
CONSTITUTION: The compd. (e.g.; 4-chloro-3',4'-dimethoxybenzophenone, etc.) of formula I [A is formula II (R1 is alkyl, alkoxy, amino, alkenyl, etc.; R2 is alkyl, halogen, etc.; R3 is H or halogen); B is formula III [R4 is R3 or alkyl, etc.; R5 is H, alkyl, phenyl, etc.; -X-Y- single bond, -O-, -S(O)p- (p is 0 to 2), etc.] is condensed with the compd. of formula IV [Z is H or halogen; Q is formula V (R6 is alkyl, etc.; R7 is alkyl), the compd. (e.g.; N-acetylmorpholine, etc.) of formula VI (R8 is H, alkyl, etc.; R9 is H or alkyl)] and when the intermediate of formula VII is formed, the intermediate is dehydrated, by which the compd. [e.g.; 3-(4-chlorophenyl)-3-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)acrylic acid morpholide, etc.] of formula VIII is obtd.
