Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the title substance useful as an intermediate for drugs and agricultural chemicals at one stage and in high yield, by heating a 1- substituted 3,5-dichlorobenzene in the presence of specific amounts of an alkali metal hydroxide and an alcohol at a specific temperature. CONSTITUTION:A compound shown by formula (X is alkoxy or halogen) is reacted in the presence of 2,5-10mol. (preferably 3-8mol.) based on 1mol. of the compound of an alkali metal hydroxide (e.g. NaOH or KOH) and 2.5-10 pts.wt. (preferably 3-8pts.wt.) based on 1pt.wt. of the compound of an alcohol (e.g. methanol) under heating at 170-250 deg.C (preferably 180-230 deg.C) and neutralized to give the title substance. The reaction time is preferably 1-10hr. In the reaction, an inert organic solvent such as hexane or benzene may be used.
