Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for industrially producing a 5-methoxyindoline derivative, capable of obtaining 1-benzyl-5-methoxyindoline in a high yield.
SOLUTION: This method for producing 1-benzyl-5-methoxyindoline comprises reacting a 1-benzyl-5-halogenoindoline of the formula (X is a halogen atom) with a sodium methylate solution in the presence of a copper catalyst, while heating and distilling off methanol. Since the 1-benzyl-5-methoxyindoline is obtain in a high yield, the method has a high value as an industrial production method.
