PURPOSE: To economically obtain the subject compound useful as a intermediate raw material for agricultural chemical, etc., in one process using an inexpensive catalyst by hydrogenating quinoline in the presence of a nickel catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Quinoline is reacted in the presence of a nickel catalyst. The reaction is carried out as the first state reaction at 100-180°C reaction tempera ture and 10-150kg/cm2(G) of hydrogen pressure until consumption of hydrogen in a reactor becomes amount of 1.5-2.5 times by mol based on amount of quinoline and then the reaction is carried out as the second stage reaction at 200-250°C and 1-10kg/cm2 (G) of hydrogen pressure for 1-8hr to provide the objective product. As the catalyst, a nickel catalyst enhanced in yellowing resistance by adding copper chromium oxide or molybdenum oxide, etc., thereto is preferably used at an amount of 5-20wt.%.
