Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing the subject compound, useful as a therapeutic agent for, e.g. allergic and dermatologic diseases and inflammation by reacting 1-decyne treated with a strong base with 1,4-dihalogeno-2-butyne, and then with 5-hexyne.
SOLUTION: This method treats 1-decyne shown by the formula, C8H17-C≡C- H with a strong base to produce the corresponding acetylide, and reacts the product with 1,4-dihalogeno-2-butyne, shown by the formula, XCH2C≡CCH2X (X is a halogen) to produce 1-halogeno-2,5-tetradecadiyne and then with 5-hexyne shown by the formula, H-C≡C(CH2)3COOH to produce 5,8,11-eicosatriynoic acid. A specific ester or amine of the above product controls enzyme metabolism of arachidonic acid, caused by cyclooxygenase and lioxynase, and is useful as medicines and cosmetics, in particular as a acne preventive, sunburn preventive, and for treatment of sunburn and dermatitis seborrheica.
