Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a di-lower alkyl acetal industrially, simply and in an excellent yield.
CONSTITUTION: Acetaldehyde is reacted with methanol as raw materials in the presence of an acid catalyst under a condition of rectification. In the reaction, water is removed from the bottom of a rectification column so that the raw materials and the acid catalyst exist at part of the column and a formed dimethyl acetal component is taken out from the top of the column to produce dimethyl acetal industrially, simply and in an excellent final yield.
