Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the subject condensate, capable of mildly advancing reaction, excellent in safety, compatibility, mixability and adhesion and useful as adhesives, etc., by condensing acetone with formaldehyde in a specific proportion in the presence of an alkaline catalyst in the coexistence of a phenolic compound.
CONSTITUTION: One mol acetone is condensed with 1.4-3mol formaldehyde in the presence of an alkaline catalyst such as sodium hydroxide in the coexistence of a phenolic compound such as phenol in an amount of preferably 30-150% (based on the equiv. of the alkaline catalyst) to afford the objective condensate.
