PURPOSE: To readily obtain the titled compound useful as a functional group exchange agent and raw material compound for peroxides in high yield without using expensive phosphorus pentachloride, by bringing a specific compound as a raw material into contact with an iron, aluminum salts, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A compound expressed by formula I [R1 and R2 are same or different and H, halogen, 1W6C alkyl in which at least one H is optionally substituted by a halogen atom) is brought into contact with an iron, aluminum or nickel salt in an amount of normally 0.0001W20mol.%, preferably 0.01W10mol.% based on the compound expressed by formula I at 0W200°C, preferably 20W120°C to afford the aimed compound expressed by formula II. Furthermore, the compound expressed by formula I is synthesized by hydrolyzing a compound expressed by formula II and chlorinating the resultant compound with chlorine.
