Abstract:

PURPOSE: To synthesize an acrylic polymer-dispersed type p-substituted phenol- modified phenol resin excellent in heat resistance, oxidation resistance and flexibility.

CONSTITUTION: This method for production of an acrylic polymer-dispersed type p-substituted phenol-modified phenol resin consists of adding formaldehyde to a p-substituted phenol, admixing a phenol more reactive with formaldehyde than the p-substituted phenol with the resultant addition reaction product, synthesizing a resin from the obtained mixture in the presence of an acid and a metal element selected from among a transition metal, a IIA group element, a IIIA group element, a IVA group element, a VA group element and a VIA group element, adding an acrylic polymer solution to the synthesized resin and removing the solvent from the system under heating.
