Abstract:

PURPOSE: A polymer is formed into, e.g., strings and foamed, then drawn in steam and treated with a finishing agent for increasing antishockfriction properties to produce the titled product that can suitably used for the surface of 'tatami' mats, because of its good touch, moisture adsorption, dyeability and increased antiwearing property.

CONSTITUTION: Acrylonitrile and a small amount of copolymerizable monomers such as methyl acrylate are fed into a polymerizer and the polymerization is effected in the presence of ammonium persulfate and sodium bicarbonate at a temperature of 135°C and a pressure of 25kg/cm2. After polymerization, the melted mixture in the polymerizer is jetted out through an orifice into a normal pressure zone to effect melt extrusion forming with foaming, thus producing the product with foam structure. The product is heat treated in a hot air atmosphere, substantially drawn in steam, dipped in an aqueous silicone resin, dried, it means the application of a finishing agent for increasing antishockfriction properties, thus producing the objective product.
