Title:
PRODUCTION OF ACYLATED NITROCELLULOSE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3834833
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To easily obtain in high selectivity in a short time an acylated nitrocellulose with invariant nitration degree, useful as e.g. a binder for smokeless powder for propellants, by acylating the OH groups of nitrocellulose using 4-dimethylaminopyridine as catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: This acylated nitrocellulose is obtained by acylating, in the presence of (A) 4-dimethylaminopyridine as catalyst in (B) an organic solvent such as acetone, (C) nitrocellulose using (D) an acylating agent such as a 1-6C alkylcarboxylic anhydride. For example, the component C is dissolved in the component B followed by dethydration, and 0.001-10 (easp. 5-10)wt.% of the component A is added to the component C and dissolved, and the component D is dripped dropwise into the resultant solution under agitation to conduct an acylation. The resultant reaction liquor is put into water to obtain a deposit, which is then washed with (hot) water to remove the impurities contained, thereby the objective compound is obtained.
