Abstract:
PURPOSE: To readily produce an alkatriene compound which is a sex pheromone of insects by reacting a Grignard reagent with cis-9,cis-12,cis-15-octadecatrienyl bromide or iodide.
CONSTITUTION: A compound expressed by the formula (R is H, CH3 or C2H5; X is halogen) is reacted with cis-9,cis-12,cis-15-octadecatrienyl bromide or iodide at (1.0-1.5):1 molar ratio and 10-20°C to produce a cis-3,cis-6,cis-9-alkatriene compound. Three of cis-3,cis-6,cis-9-nonadecatriene, cis-3,cis-6,cis-9-eicosatriene and cis-3,cis-6,cis-9-heneicosatriene can readily be synthesized in high purity simply by changing the Grignard reagent to be reacted according to the aforementioned method without causing isomerization at all.
