Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject compound useful as an intermediate for producing a herbicidal active compound through a reaction between a specific iminocarbonic diester and a carbazinic ester in a high yield on an industrial scale.
SOLUTION: An iminocarbonic diester of formula I [R1 and R2 are each an alkyl, an alkenyl, an alkynyl, a cycloalkyl(alkyl) or an aryl(alkyl) which may be substituted, respectively; R3 is an alkyl or an aryl(alkyl) which may be substituted, respectively] (e.g. methyliminocarbonic acid dimethyl ester or the like) is reacted with a carbazinic ester of formula II (R4 is as shown for R3) (e.g. ethyl carbazinate or the like) in the presence of a reaction auxiliary (e.g. pivalic acid or the like) and a diluent at 200-120°C. A prepared compound of formula III is isolated at 20-100°C, subjected to a cyclizing condensation reaction in the presence of a base and a diluent to give the objective compound of formula IV (e.g. 5-methoxy-4-methyl-2,4-dihydro-3H-1,2,4-triazol-3-one, etc.).
