Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce hydroquinones at a low reactional temperature in high yield and simple post treatment.

CONSTITUTION: In a method for obtaining alkyl-substituted hydroquinones by reaction of an unsubstituted or a mono-substituted hydroquinones with an α- olefin using a strong acidic ion exchange resin as an acid catalyst, operation for removing water in the reactional system is carried out before starting the reaction or during the reaction or at least ≥20mol% αolefin fed for carrying out the reaction is added after starting the reaction.
