PURPOSE: To surely peel off a cast strip by using a high expansion alloy for the cast strip side and a low expansion alloy for a roll side, forming a scraper with a bimetal having a prescribed range of the difference between both coefficients of thermal expansion and allowing this bimetal to bend toward the roll side even if the temp. is raised.
CONSTITUTION: The tip of a scraper 10 is brought into contact with the surface of the roll 5 for rapidly cooling the cast strip at an angle θ, of the range of 10-90° to a line connecting the uppermost part of the roll 5 and the center point thereof, and the scraper 10 is arranged so that an angle θ2 formed between the upper surface of the scraper 10 and the line connecting the contact point on the surface of the roll 5 to the center point thereof becomes 90-120°. The scraper 10 has the upper surface of the cast strip side made of the large expansion alloy 11 and the reverse side made of the small expansion alloy 12 and is constituted of the bimetal having 10×10-7/°C-280×10-7/°C of the difference between both coefficients of thermal expansion at 30-100°C and fitted to a fixed metal 13. By this constitution, even if the temp. of the scraper 10 is raised, the cast strip can surely be peeled off because the scraper bends toward the roll 5 side.
