Title:
PRODUCTION OF ALPHA-AMINO ACID DERIVATIVE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH1180101
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To industrially and advantageously produce the subject compound without using an expensive starting raw material by reducing a specific α- hydroxyiminocarboxylic acid derivative with hydrogen in the presence of a transition metallic catalyst. SOLUTION: (A) A β-ketocarboxylic acid represented by formula I [R<1> is a chain or a cyclic alkyl (having a substituent group), a phenyl(1-5C) alkyl (having a substituent group) or an aromatic group (having a substituent group); R<2> is H or a protecting group of a carboxylic acid; R<3> is a lower alkyl, an aralkyl or the like] is reacted with (B) a nitrite compound represented by the formula R<4> ONO (R<4> is H, a lower alkyl, a halogen or SO3 H) in a molar amount of >=1 based on the component A at -100 to +80 deg.C to provide (C) an α- hydroxyiminocarboxylic acid derivative represented by formula II, which is then reduced with (D) hydrogen in the presence of (E) a transition metallic catalyst in an amount of >=0.01 mol.%, based on the component C and expressed in terms of the metal at 0-200 deg.C under 1-100 kg/cm<2> hydrogen pressure to afford an α-amino acid derivative represented by formula III.
