Title:
PRODUCTION OF ALPHA-HYDROXYISOBUTYRAMIDE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05244968
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To efficiently produce α-hydroxyisobutyramide from acetone cyanhydrin and to prepare an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid aliphatic alcohol ester or an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid by using the amide.

CONSTITUTION: Acetone cyanhydrin is treated in an aqueous medium with a culture solution of a microorganism capable of forming a hydroxyisobutyramide from acetone cyanhydrin, cells or a treated material of the cells to produce α-hydroxyisobutyramide. The amide is reacted with water and/or an aliphatic alcohol in the presence of a solid acid catalyst at 150°C in a gas phase or a gas-liquid mixed phase to prepare an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid aliphatic alcohol ester or an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid.
