PURPOSE: The polymerization of α-olefin is conducted using a catalyst containing a reaction product from a titanium trichloride composition, an electron donor, titanium tetrachloride and a polysiloxane, and an organoaluminum compound, thus preventing the reducion of the catalyst activity with the passage of time and giving high-crystallinity α-olefin polymer.
CONSTITUTION: The homo- or copolymerization of α-olefin is effected using a catalyst obtained by combining (B) a solid product resulting from the reaction between (A) a solid product from a titanium trichloride composition, an electron donor, and titanium tetrachloride in the suspension, and a polysiloxane or its reaction product with a halide of metal of group IIIWV in the periodic table, with (C) an organoaluminum compound. The composition containing titanium trichloride is, e.g., a complex salt of trivalent titanium.
