Title:
PRODUCTION OF ALUMINA DISPERSION STRENGTHENED COPPER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3125851
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To economically produce a fine wire combining high electric conductivity with tensile strength by milling an aluminum-containing copper alloy powder in an air atmosphere, subjecting the resultant pulverized material to heat treatment in an inert gas and to reducing treatment in a reducing atmosphere, and then performing hot extrusion.
SOLUTION: An aluminum-containing copper alloy powder is milled in an air atmosphere by means of a milling device having mechanical alloying function, by which a pulverized material consisting of oxide-containing grains is prepared. As the milling device, a ball mill is preferred. The pulverized material is heat-treated in an inert gas atmosphere to convert aluminum into aluminum oxide, and simultaneously, copper oxide is converted into metallic copper. Heating and reducing treatment is applied to the converted material in an atmosphere containing reducing gas to remove residual oxygen. Then, hot extrusion is performed by using a powder metallurgical technique, by which the material for electric wire can be provided.
