To enable a reaction structure to be recycled.
Specified amts. of barium carbonate, europium oxide, basic magnesium, aluminum oxide, and aluminum fluoride are mixed for 1hr by using a mortar. 3g of the resultant mixture is put in an alumina-made boat, which is then placed in an alumina-made core tube of a tubular atmosphere furnace. Nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas are introduced into the core tube, and the temp. of the mixture is elevated at a temp. rise rate of 400°C/hr by energizing an electric heater and is kept at 1,600°C for 2hr to bake the mixture. Then, the mixture is cooled at a temp. fall rate of 200°C/hr to room temp. After the baking, the baking product remains in the boat and aluminum fluoride, i.e., a reaction structure, deposits on the mixed-gas exhaust side of the core tube. The structure is recovered and added to a fluorescent substance feedstock or starting fluorescent substance, which is then baked.
