PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing an aluminum alloy casting free from the presence of porosities and excellent in mechanical properties.
CONSTITUTION: In the method for producing an aluminum alloy casting in which the molten metal of an aluminum alloy is cast into a solidified body, which is successively subjected to solution treatment and aging treatment, prior to the solution treatment, the aluminum solidified body is subjected to preheating treatment in which it is held to 100 to 400°C for 5 to 50hr in an atmosphere of ≤10-1Torr hydrogen partial pressure. Sice gaseous hydrogen is emitted by the preheating treatment, the aluminum alloy casting free from the generation of porosities at the time of the solution treatment and excellent in mechanical properties can be obtd.
