Abstract:

To obtain an amide oxide without using an expensive peroxide by reacting an amine with a mixture of hydrogen/oxygen in the presence of an oxidation catalyst of an element of the group VIII of the periodic table on titanium silicate having a zeolite structure.

A compound of formula I (R1, R2 and R3 are each a 1-30C alkyl, etc.) is reacted with a mixture of hydrogen/oxygen by using an element of the group VIII of the periodic table on titanium silicate having a zeolite structure as an oxidation catalyst at -5 to 90°C under 1-100 bar to give an amide oxide of formula II. In the reaction, the oxidation catalyst contains 0.01-20wt.% of the element of the group VIII of the periodic table and 9.99-80wt.% of titanium silicate having a zeolite structure and additionally rhenium, etc.
