PURPOSE: To form anti-fogging coating films having excellent durability and water resistance by applying a coating composition consisting essentially of a specific PVA and a crosslinking agent, curing under heating and further immersing in an aqueous solution of alkali in a specific condition.
CONSTITUTION: A coating composition comprising (A) a PVA having ≥70mol% saponification degree and ≥300 (preferably ≤3,000) average molecular weight and (B) a crosslinking agent preferably composed of silane coupling agent as main components is applied, heated to about 50-250°C, cured and further immersed in an aqueous solution of alkali composed of preferably NaOH or ammonia, having pH ≥8 for 0.5 minute to 5 hours to give the objective anti-fogging coating film.
