Abstract:
PURPOSE: To industrially produce an aqueous polymaleic acid solution useful as a scale inhibitor in a high yield in a short time.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture of polymaleic acid anhydride and an organic solvent, obtained by polymerizing maleic anhydride in an organic solvent, is hydrolyzed by adding water thereto, and the hydrolyzed mixture is allowed to stand to cause the separation of an aqueous polymaleic acid solution.
