Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a plastic dispersion stabilized mainly sterically by allowing ethylenically unsaturated monomers to polymerize in an aqueous phase as a dispersion medium in the presence of a water soluble macromonomer based on maleic acid or fumaric acid and a polymerization initiator system.
CONSTITUTION: The macromonomer is an esterification product of maleic acid or fumaric acid, or maleic anhydride and polyalkylene glycol or its derivatives, having an esterification degree of 50 to 100%. The dispersion has high electrolytic stability, shear stability and frost stability even without using ordinary emulsifiers and emulsification adjuvants.
