PURPOSE: To obtain a slurry of good quality in a high concentration at a low cost with high productivity per unit time, by wet crushing coal in water, dehydrating the coal, disintegrating the resultant cake, and mixing and agitating the disintegrated coal with water and an additive.
CONSTITUTION: Coal is wet crushed in water to prepare an aqueous slurry of coal in a low concentration (usually 20W50wt%), and the resultant slurry is dehydrated to give a cake, which is disintegrated in an even torque type disintegrator, etc. and introduced into a mixing agitator. Water and an additive are fed thereto, mixed and agitated to afford the aimed aqueous slurry of coal in a high concentration (usually 60W90wt%). The resultant aqueous slurry is further fed to an ultrafine pulverization mill if necessary, and ground to give about ≥50wt% powdered coal having ≤10μ particle size.
