Abstract:
To produce a new catalyst useful for producing an aromatic carboxylic acid ester from an aromatic aldehyde and an alcohol in one stage.
An aromatic aldehyde in reacted with an alcohol in the presence of molecular oxygen in the liquid phase by using a Pd-X-Y catalyst (X is one or more of Bi and Pb; Y is one or more of Cr, Fe, Co, Zn, Ba and Ag) to produce an aromatic carboxylic acid ester. Thereby, the aromatic carboxylic acid ester can be produced in high yield and selectivity.
