Abstract:
To produce an aromatic cyanomethylamine in a high yield by converting an aromatic dinitrile into the aromatic cyanomethylamine in a high conversion rate according to a reaction at a low temperature under a low pressure in a method for hydrogenating either one of two nitrile groups in the aromatic dinitrile in the presence of a Raney catalyst in a small amount of addition and producing the aromatic cyanomethylamine.
This method for producing an aromatic cyanomethylamine comprises making a Raney catalyst, activated in a solvent in a hydrogen atmosphere and containing nickel and/or cobalt present in an amount of 0.1-10wt.% based on an aromatic dinitrile and reducing the aromatic dinitrile with hydrogen.
