Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a process for producing an aromatic polyamide fiber having high flexibility and high adhesivity at room temperature and at a high temperature and suitable for the reinforcement of rubber.

CONSTITUTION: An aromatic polyamide fiber is treated in (1) a step to immerse the fiber in an epoxy treating liquid and dry and cure the treating product and (2) a step to immerse the product in a 2nd treating liquid containing a resin produced by the cocondensation of p-hydroxyacetanilide or anisidine, a resorcinol or m-aminophenol and formaldehyde, a resorcinol-formaldehyde resin and a rubber latex and dry and cure the immersion product. The fiber has expanded application range since the fiber can be imparted with high adhesivity at room temperature as well as at a high temperature without losing the flexibility of the fiber.
